Harry Kane has just won his first Ballon d'Or and already has another chance to make history. This time, the name ahead of him is Cristiano Ronaldo: the Englishman is one scoring game away from matching the longest scoring streak in the Champions League.

The first step comes this Tuesday, November 3, when Bayern visit Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano. If Kane scores, he will reach eleven consecutive appearances with a goal, a figure only Cristiano has reached in the competition.

Cristiano's record

The Portuguese built his record with Real Madrid between 2017 and 2018. The run began with a brace against Juventus in the 2017 final and continued through the following edition, up to the quarterfinals. In those eleven games he scored 17 goals.

Kane moved closer with his goal in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal on October 21. That extended to ten a streak that dates back to last season's edition and moved him past the nine straight scoring games reached by Ruud van Nistelrooy and Robert Lewandowski.

The longest runs of consecutive scoring games in the Champions League.

The timing is on the Englishman's side. He won the Ballon d'Or after a 2025/26 campaign with 73 goals for Bayern and England, including 14 in the Champions League, where his team reached the semifinals.

The Metropolitano test

But the next opponent has reasons to believe it can stop him. Atlético are unbeaten in their three home games against Bayern, with two wins and a draw. For the Germans, the trip is also a chance to break that resistance.

Even a Kane hat-trick in Madrid would only leave him level with Cristiano: the record counts consecutive games with a goal. To stand alone at the top he needs to score in his next two Champions League appearances. After Atlético, Bayern are scheduled to visit Lille on November 25.

The Ballon d'Or is already his. Now Kane can achieve something no other striker has: extend that streak beyond Cristiano's eleven games.
