Seven past Italy! Mexico rout their way into the U-15 World Cup ninth-place match
Marvin Cabrera's side beat Italy 7–0 after getting past Morocco; Uruguay will be their final opponent in Azerbaijan.

Mexico thrashed Italy 7–0 on Thursday, October 29, at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival Azerbaijan 2026. The win sent the boys' youth side into the ninth-place match.
Muñoz and Aguirre scored twice each, while Villarreal, Loyo and Soria completed the tally. The five scorers sealed victory in the semifinal of the bracket that decides places ninth through sixteenth.

Before facing the Italians, Marvin Cabrera's team had beaten Morocco 3–0. Mexico thus wrapped up their double matchday with ten goals scored and none conceded.

Mexico are playing this classification round after losing 5–2 to Ghana in the round of 16 on Wednesday, October 28. The format lets teams keep playing to settle their final position even after dropping out of the title race.
The tournament brings together 189 national teams and follows different rules from traditional World Cups: it is played eight-a-side, with two 20-minute halves, on smaller pitches.
Uruguay, the final opponent
Mexico's last match will be against Uruguay on Thursday at 11:00 p.m. Mexico City time. La Celeste arrive after beating Egypt 3–0 and Poland 1–0 in this same bracket.
The rout of Italy guaranteed that Mexico will finish in the tournament's top ten. Against Uruguay they will look to close with three straight wins and claim ninth place.
