The Atlanta Falcons (2-4) host the San Francisco 49ers (6-0) in Week 7 of the NFL season. Kickoff is Sunday, October 25 at 1pm ET (11:00 Mexico City time) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Atlanta sits second in the NFC South. San Francisco leads the NFC West.

Match preview

Atlanta arrives at 2-4 and has lost two straight. The Falcons are second in the NFC South with a 1-1 divisional record and rank 23rd in the league by winning percentage.

They fell 31-23 to the Bears in Week 6 and 30-23 to the Ravens in Week 5, leading Baltimore at halftime before letting it slip. Before that, they beat the Saints 45-24 and the Packers 35-14, both on the road.

The offense averages 23.7 points per game (142 in six games) and the defense allows 25.5 (153). Home is the issue. Atlanta is 0-3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, including a 34-3 loss to Carolina in Week 2.

Michael Penix Jr. has 944 passing yards, six touchdowns and one interception in four games, with a 106.0 passer rating. He has been sacked nine times. Bijan Robinson is the other focal point of the attack.

San Francisco is one of the NFL's three unbeaten teams at 6-0, with six straight wins. The 49ers lead the NFC West at 3-0 in the division and rank first in the league by winning percentage.

The Niners beat Washington 23-17 in Week 6 and won 32-29 at Seattle in Week 5. Before that came wins over Denver (24-14), Arizona (36-30) and Miami (35-13). They average 29.5 points and allow 18.3 per game.

Brock Purdy has 1,460 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions with a 118.1 rating, and has been sacked only five times. Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle round out the core of the offense. San Francisco is 2-0 on the road.

There is a clash of styles. The run game has been a strength for the Niners, but Excelsior notes Atlanta has allowed the fourth-fewest rushing yards in the league.

Atlanta has won three of the last five meetings (2016, 2019, 2022). San Francisco won 20-10 in October 2025 and 31-13 in 2021. The 49ers go into their bye week after this game.

Injury report

San Francisco has ruled out six players: defensive end Nick Bosa (knee, calf, out four games), wide receivers Mike Evans (ribs, Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring), linebackers Luke Gifford and Garret Wallow, and safety Marques Sigle.

Wide receiver Christian Kirk (calf), safety Siran Neal (knee) and cornerback Upton Stout (shoulder) are questionable. Without Evans and Samuel, Purdy will work with a thin receiving group.

Atlanta has ruled out running back Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring), tackle Michael Jerrell (biceps), linebacker Divine Deablo (forearm) and defensive back Billy Bowman Jr. (hamstring).

Defensive ends Samson Ebukam and Za'Darius Smith, defensive tackle Gervon Dexter, linebacker Kendal Daniels and cornerbacks C.J. Henderson, A.J. Terrell and Avieon Terrell are all questionable. The front seven and the secondary are both banged up.

Our prediction
Falcons20 - 2749ers

We think San Francisco takes a tight one, 27-20 over Atlanta. Even without Evans and Samuel, Purdy keeps the offense productive and rarely gets sacked, against a depleted home defense. The Falcons have Bijan Robinson and a solid run defense, but the 0-3 home record and the injuries weigh heavily.
