Odegaard goal gives Arsenal 1-0 win over Hull City
Arsenal beat Hull City 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium in Premier League matchday 10. Martin Odegaard scored the only goal in the 72nd minute, after a goalless first half in which the hosts controlled possession and had the bulk of the shots.
It was 0-0 at the break. Arsenal finished with 67% possession and 21 shots, ten of them on target. Hull managed seven attempts, with just two testing the goalkeeper.
Odegaard broke the deadlock on 72 minutes and it proved the only goal of the game. The expected goals count was 1.12 for Arsenal and 0.36 for Hull. The numbers show the gap in volume, but also that the hosts needed plenty of attempts to turn their control into a one-goal lead. Arsenal also won the corner count, 7-4.
It was a physical afternoon for the visitors. Hull committed 15 fouls and picked up five yellow cards. Arsenal gave away six fouls and were not booked. Farai Hallam was the referee and there were no red cards.
