The video Puebla deleted and the firing Aleco Irarragorri denies requesting: 'Little liar, that kid'

It all began with a 3-2 win over Santos at the Cuauhtémoc and a video mocking 'Color esperanza'. Two months later, a screenshot posted by Puebla's former brand director reopened the feud with Santos.

'Little liar, that kid,' Héctor 'Macca' Domínguez wrote on Instagram. That was how Puebla's former brand director answered Alejandro 'Aleco' Irarragorri, president of Santos Laguna, who denied in an interview that he had asked for Domínguez to be fired.

The joke that ended in an apology

On matchday 5 of the Apertura 2026, Puebla came from behind to beat Santos 3-2 and posted a video of its goals set to 'Color esperanza'. The song choice referenced another video in which Irarragorri sang the Diego Torres tune at a private gathering. The loss at the Cuauhtémoc was Santos' fifth in a row.

On August 24, Puebla confirmed it had removed the posts and apologized to Santos and its board. Days later, Domínguez said goodbye to Puebla on Instagram with photos from his time at the club, set to the same song.

What does the chat say?

In the interview, Irarragorri said that what happens on the pitch should stay there. Domínguez shared a clip of that conversation along with a screenshot of two messages. 'Alejo already complained about this video,' reads the first. 'We have to take it down,' says the next.

What the chat asks for is removing the video. The open question is whether that complaint went as far as a request to fire him. Irarragorri denies it, but Domínguez's exit days later, and his public reply, fuel suspicion that it did.
