Real Betis vs Malaga

Predicted line-ups, prediction and how to watch for Real Betis vs Málaga: everything you need to know before the game.

Real Betis host Malaga at Estadio de la Cartuja on Saturday 31 October, with kick-off at 5.30pm GMT (11.30am Mexico City time), in LaLiga matchday 11.

The hosts sit fourth on 20 points, while the visitors are bottom of the table in 20th place with just five.

Match preview

Betis arrive in fourth place with 20 points from 10 games and a goal difference of +2. Their LaLiga record reads six wins, two draws and two defeats.

La Cartuja has been their stronghold. They have won four and lost one of their five home league matches, scoring 10 and conceding seven. This is a side that scores freely but also leaks goals.

Recent form has been mixed. Betis drew 0-0 at Celta Vigo on 25 October, four days after beating Feyenoord 1-0 in the Champions League.

On 17 October they lost 2-5 at home to Barcelona. Three days earlier they had edged Porto 3-2 in Europe, and on 11 October they thrashed Osasuna 5-2.

Malaga are enduring a painful start to the campaign. They are bottom on five points, without a league win (five draws, five defeats) and with a goal difference of -12.

Away from home they have struggled to find a way through. They have drawn two and lost three of their five road games, scoring just twice and conceding nine. At their own ground they have drawn three and lost two.

Their latest league results are a 1-1 draw at Alaves on 23 October, a 2-5 loss to Real Sociedad, a 1-1 draw with Espanyol and a 0-1 defeat at Getafe. On Tuesday they won 3-0 at Alcazar in the Copa del Rey.

Adrian Nino Heredia is their main attacking threat, with four goals this season.

The recent head-to-head favours Betis, who won the last four league meetings in our data, played between 2016 and 2018. Malaga did win 3-1 in a pre-season friendly in August 2025.

Betis are juggling LaLiga with the Champions League, and Pellegrini must manage his resources with the European fixture in mind. Malaga, meanwhile, are desperate to climb off the bottom.

Team news

Pellegrini remains without Cucho Hernandez, who is still recovering from a muscle injury, and Facundo Bernal, who is serving the second of a four-match ban after his red card against Barcelona. Iker Losada is also out of the squad for tactical reasons.

Junior Firpo is progressing from an adductor problem and is a doubt. Antony was left out of the cup trip with a viral illness, though El Desmarque still includes him in its probable XI.

Malaga are without Joaquin Munoz, Julen Lobete, Aaron Ochoa and Diego Murillo. Juan Cruz and Pablo Martinez were doubts, but local reports suggest Funes will have both back. Larrubia, Alfonso Herrero and Rafita look like fixtures in the side.

Our prediction
Real Betis2 - 0Málaga
66%Real Betis22%Draw12%Málaga

We expect Betis to win 2-0. They have won four of five at La Cartuja and face a side without a league victory, which has shipped nine goals on its travels and is short of bodies. European fatigue and rotation are the main risks for the hosts.
