Galatasaray beat Stuttgart 2-0 as Batrakov scores twice early
Galatasaray defeated VfB Stuttgart 2-0 at Rams Park in matchday 4 of the Champions League league phase. Aleksey Batrakov scored both goals inside the opening 15 minutes, and the scoreline did not change after that.
Batrakov opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Three minutes later he added a second, set up by Davinson Sanchez. The hosts led 2-0 at the break and there were no further goals after the restart.
The numbers suggest Stuttgart created the better chances. Their expected goals figure was 1.83 to Galatasaray's 1.10, and they had five shots on target to the hosts' four. They could not find a goal, though. Total shots were level at 13 apiece. Galatasaray had slightly more possession, 52% to 48%, and won the corner count 6-4.
It was a physical contest. Stuttgart collected five yellow cards and Galatasaray three. The visitors committed 16 fouls to the hosts' 13. There were no red cards. Chris Kavanagh was the referee.
